As I remember, I read about Ernie's accident with electricity in the newspaper. It was a shock because we were just beginning life in some ways. I was just finishing nursing school.

I have thought about him over the years. It is interesting, the people who 'stay with you' in your mind and pop up now and again.

Ernie sat in front of me in some class during one year. I was pretty quiet, so was he. At least, we did not talk much. But, I remember he was always nice. I just always thought of him as a decent guy. That is pretty important, to be a decent person.

I was looking through an old scrap book that my grandmother had and I saw the newspaper article regarding Ernie's passing. He died October 3, 1964 in San Jose, CA leaving his wife Gloria and a daughter, Renee. He was a sheetmetal fabricator and worked for a Palo Alto electronics firm. He died ( electrocuted) while drilling holes in a planter box. He was only 23 years old.
My parents knew his parents and we sent to school together at Hoover and Cubberley.
